Move the top navigation menu below the header using Thesis Theme

By default if you are using the Thesis wordpress theme, when you publish a page/post your site, the top navigation menu is located on top of the site header (or if your site does not have a header image, then it is located on top of the site title and tagline).

Personally, I preferred my menu to be located below the site header.

This is easily achieved using your WordPress dashboard> Thesis> Skin Editor> Canvas tab:

The first default tab you would see is your Home tab. From above the diagram, you are able to see the Nav Menu tab (in blue) which was first located on top of the “Header” by default.

All you need to do is to click on the tab located above the header and then drag it down till it goes below the header like the diagram shown above.

Remember to click on the green “Save Template” on your right and view the new menu.

Now, we are not done yet. The above change is only applicable to our homepage. The other pages, posts, archive pages and custom pages would still have the menu located on top of the header:

You would need to click and change on each template. Just click on the “Home” icon and then a drop down would appear. Select the page, like “Single” and repeat the process (use your mouse to drag the Nav Menu until it goes below the header then save the template) with each template/page/post till you finish.

Do note if you have a caching plugin, the change may not be immediately shown. You may try to open up your site using a new device like your mobile to see if the changes have been reflected.
